Women’s Day, as controversial as it may be in times when “feminist” turned into a loaded word, is a yearly reminder. However, the phrase “women’s day is every day” resonates more with us, and we hope, with you too.
We’ve officially entered women’s history month, giving a perfect opportunity to remember brave activists who fought for voting rights, better labor laws and championed change. We don’t want to shift focus from that to fashion benefiting from the visibility generated by women’s day. In words of amazing writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie: “Fashion is supposed to be frivolous. Obviously I don’t agree with that. Even the idea of using fashion to make statement of feminism is in itself subversive. A t-shirt is not going to change the world. But change happens when we spread ideas”. When we dress for ourselves, finding a way to make how we look contribute to feeling of empowerment. When we support women-led businesses, and celebrate women’s achievements, when we have the courage to do things our way, change is at the doorstep. To celebrating women, today and beyond.
